Shutterfly 4Q profit rises 68 pct on revenue boost (AP)

AP - An increase in orders for its photo products led Shutterfly Inc. on Thursday to report a 68 percent increase in net income for the fourth quarter.

Advanced Analogic narrows 4Q loss to $4 million (AP)

AP - Advanced Analogic Technologies Inc., which makes chips for wireless phones and digital cameras, reported Thursday that its fourth-quarter loss narrowed to $4 million as sales rose 12 percent.

Optical image stabilization for camera phones

Optical image stabilization for camera phones : Varioptic, the liquid lens company, announced that it has developed its first liquid lens. The Varioptic A316S offering Optical Image Stabilization functionality to camera phones. Varioptic’s Autofocus (AF) liquid lenses are used in consumer, medical and industrial devices ranging from full HD DV camcorders, bar code readers, security cameras, dental cameras to machine vision cameras. Liquid lenses have been in production since January 2007 and more recently, ramping mass production, with Japanese partner Seiko Instruments Inc. Varioptic has finalized the next generation of Optical Image Stabilization liquid lenses, correcting handshake.
