Energizer Duo charger security exploit discovered

Energizer Holdings Inc. and the Department of Homeland Security’s United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team have jointly announced the discovery of a security exploit in the company’s Duo charger software distribution. According to US-CERT, the application - which provides an indication of battery charge level on an attached PC - includes a backdoor that listens for incoming connections on TCP port 777. Canon issues a raft of software updates

Canon USA Inc. has today issued a wide variety of software updates, both for its digital SLRs and for its compact digital cameras. The precise selection of updates varies by camera model and operating system, but includes the company’s Digital Photo Professional, EOS Utility, WFT Utility, Picture Style Editor and Original Data Security Tools applications. Ricoh: Two new camera modules for GXR body

Japan’s Ricoh Co. Ltd. has announced the development of two new camera modules for its unusual Ricoh GXR camera system, which features interchangeable lens / sensor / image processor combinations that slot onto the front of the GXR camera body. The GXR body itself consists of only the LCD display, a flash strobe and hot shoe, microphone and speaker, secondary image processor, miscellaneous connectivity, battery and flash slots, plus the various control buttons and dials.
