Another forum registration amnesty weekend

Nikon announces 24 mm and 16 - 35 mm lenses
This story’s not quite as stale as the Ricoh one above. On Monday, Nikon introduced a pair of new Nikkor lenses. The first is an F1.4, 24 mm ED lens (drool) which will ship in late March for $2199. The second is an F4, 16 - 35 mm ED VR zoom lens, priced at a more reasonable $1259. It’ll ship later this month.

Sony A550 gallery update, review poll coming soon
I’ve updated the gallery for the Sony Alpha DSLR-A550 with a few new photos. I’m finally getting close to finishing the review, and I hope to get it posted on Monday (give or take a day).

Initial Sony DSLR-A550 gallery posted
I’ve been promising a review of the Sony Alpha DSLR-A550 for ages, and no, it’s not ready yet. The weather here has been pretty lousy for the last several weeks and, when combined with an abnormally hectic schedule, has prevented me from getting the necessary sample photos together. While I was able to take enough of the standard photos to post an initial gallery, I’m not thrilled with many of them, so I’ll have to go back and reshoot them during the next break in the weather. So, enjoy the photos for now, and hopefully we’ll get some blue skies here soon so I can get some photos that are more consistent with those I typically include in a review.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX1 finally reviewed
I know it seems like a million years since I posted a review, and that’s pretty close to accurate. Let’s just say that getting back to work after 3 weeks of vacation has been harder than I thought! Anyhow, today I’ve posted my review of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX1. This ultra-compact camera uses Sony’s new Exmor R CMOS sensor, which promises double the sensitivity of traditional CCDs.
